Fragrance

With all of the skunk problem around the area I live I thought about something I wrote sometime ago and thought I would share it.

Well the McCutcheon household has had a first! Several days ago I started my morning off in the usual way, letting the dog out and doing a few things before waking the boys to get ready for school. I vaguely remember getting a whiff of something and thinking to myself, “I don’t remember Tony getting up and putting on a pot of coffee”. As I was getting ready to head up stairs I noticed the dog was at the back door ready to come back in. Not being a morning person and had my senses been about me, I never would have opened that door. Little did I know that on the other side of the glass stood the victim of a skunk spraying. I didn’t realize that the bad “coffee” smell was now being allowed to run and rub around the house. I finally got the dog back outside and holding noses we rushed to make our escape. After dropping the boys off at school, I called the vet, opened every window, lit every candle in the house, started washing the fabric that had been touched and grabbed the bottle of Febreze. (What a great product!) The only problem was that the smell did not immediately go away, it just lingered for days reminding us of that morning when our family dog wanted to make a new friend.

You know that lingering fragrance of a skunk is not something to be desired but there is a fragrance that we should all desire. That is the fragrant of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” Just like my dog running from room to room leaving a fragrance we should be leaving a fragrant trail in every room and on every life we encounter. As you spend time with God, those you come into contact with will be wondering…”What is that she’s wearing?” The best part it doesn’t even cost a single penny just time with the ultimate perfume maker. So go splash a little Godly perfume on the world…and take it from me it’s sure to be more attractive than a skunk.

Sweet Smelling Blessings,

Cynthia
