Yesterday I had such a fun experience.
A friend from church has a daughter, Melinda,that is attending Beauty College. Last week I received an email from her mother that she was now accepting appointments so with my hair needing some love I set one up. Now I didn't remember that Wednesday's were half price days and I scheduled the appointment for a Wednesday. Wow I never saw so many sweet little older ladies flocking to the joint. Needless to say they were very busy.
The fun part however was watching Melinda. She is a perfect fit for this career.
I got so tickles as she opened every drawer and showed me all the combs, brushes, and every piece of equipment that she had received to aid her in learning the trade. She was so eager to share with me all her goodies that came with her tuition. I'm not even her mother but I was so proud of the excitement that she had for her career.
As Melinda worked on my hair it was so neat to watch her work. As she worked she easily talked about her training, all the people she was meeting and things in general. I had only been around Melinda on a few occasions (mainly cheering in the stands at a football game.) but she was not tense or nervous. The girl simply loved what she was doing and it was like a perfume filling the air.
The one thing that really impressed me was that Melinda wasn't afraid to ask a question to the instructors walking around the room. I would think a lot of young people would have said to themselves, "This is a friend of my Mom's I have to show I don't need help." Melinda freely asked questions. The instructors gave the answer and encouraged her. She did an awesome job. I was so pleased.
Reflecting back on the time in the chair, I started to hold it to our lives as Christians. Upon accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior we were given an abundance of resources for our walk with Him but are we excitedly wanting to share it with others? Do we dip into that well of resources and let Jesus be our adequacy as we share Him with others? We are given the freedom to ask questions to the lead Instructor, Jesus Christ, but do we shy away or think we have to show we don't need help?
I want to encourage you today to open up that resource drawer, reach for the tools God has instilled in you and share the excitement with others. May you fill the air around you with the sweet perfume of Jesus Christ.
"For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing." 2 Corinthians 2:15
Have a wonderful day!
Cynthia
P.S. If you are in need of a haircut, wax, pedicure etc...Just let me know and I'll tell you how you can visit an up and coming stylist in the area. You will see for yourself how she loves her career and she would be so excited to have you sit in her chair a while and pamper you.

Onward, Christian Soldiers
Following is what as been resonating through out my very being this morning!
Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Christ the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle, see His banner go!
At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise!
Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers we are treading where the saints have trod;
We are not divided; all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
Onward, then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song;
Glory, laud, and honor, unto Christ the King;
This thro' countless ages men and angels sing.
Onward, Christian Soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Marching onward, Raising my eyes to Jehovah Nissi (God is our Banner)

5 Conversations You Must Have with Your Daughter
I know...I don't have daughters but I think it is very important that
resources for those that do are made available.
Vicki Courtney's new book "5 Conversations You Must Have with Your Daughter" is sure to be one you will want.
Vicki addresses many "Hot" issues that are influencing our young people today. I am thankful that she does not hold anything back and is on the front lines for moms.
You can also visit her blogspot http://www.5conversations.blogspot.com/ for more insight on being a mom of girls.
