eBible Study Kick off

Hi Ladies,

I am so excited about this Bible study. The books are in and ready to be picked up if we ordered one for you. Please be ready to start our discussion of homework for week 1 on July 1st.

Before we get started I would like to find out how we can lift each other up in prayer. You may feel free to answer this question anonymously, we will pray for each other with full assurance that God knows the author of the comment. So, Please share what you perceive to be your biggest challenge toward walking victoriously with God this summer. House full of children? Heavy work load? Difficult season emotionally? Just had your heart broken? Just feel far from God?

Again I can't wait to jump into the study and see what God has in store for each of us.

One of Those Days

Have you ever had one of those days? You know where it seems nothing goes well.

Well today was one of those days for me. It started out well enough, got son #2 off to church camp without incident, but when I got home things went crazy. The phone rang and as I picked it up something went haywire. I couldn't hear a thing but LOUD static. Since I had caller id I could tell who called so I tried to call them back on my cell phone all the while they were calling me. It took several minutes to finally connect with each other. Once the phone conversation was concluded, I started trying to figure out the phone and wound up calling the company. They walked me through some trouble shooting steps and after unplugging all my phones I could finally make a call. As I started plugging the phones back in the problem started again. I finally quit working on them for a while and started my work on the computer. (Haven't tried again yet)

After I logged onto the system where I do my work and something called me away from my desk. After a few minutes of sitting idle the system then disconnects the user, which is exactly what happened to me. This isn't usually a problem I just log back on but I simply couldn't remember the password. I get three attempts before it locks me out. Guess what? I used all three attempts and was locked out of the system for 5 minutes. That really wasn't so bad but I did it 3 more times. Yes I locked myself out 3 times within 20 minutes. I had to swallow my pride and call for the password. I was ready to pull my hair out.

On top of all of this I have just had one of those sad days. I am sure that you women can relate to that, at least I hope I am not the only one that just has sad days. Our God is so cool! He gave me a word right here on this blog. You may have noticed the Snippets from the Word on the side bar, well today's simply hit the spot!

Job 8:21 "He will yet fill your mouth with laughing and your lips with rejoicing."

Don't you just love Him! He is always so faithful to give you what you need when you need it!

Getting ready to laugh with God!

Worth the Fight!

Proverbs 28:4
If you desert God's law, you're free to embrace depravity;
If you love God's law, you fight for it tooth and nail.
(The Message)
In what ways did you fight for what was right this week?
Where did you see Christ going ahead and fighting for you?
It is my prayer that you will fall deeply in love with God's word and fight for it daily.
Enjoy a special time in the Word today, I promise you won't regret it.

These are the days!

Yesterday Bro. Ronnie preached a sermon entitled "Finding Real Food in a Fast Food World".
We were reminded that our Bible is a precious source of truth, power and growth. He also outlined ways to use the Bible in our lives. We should embrace God's Word by hearing, reading, studying, memorizing, meditating and applying it.

Not only did we get taught great Bible truths, we also worshipped God with wonderful songs. I was so excited when the instruments began playing "Days Of Elijah". This is one of my all time favorite songs!!! So this morning, as I was having my quiet time, I wanted to hear the words again but I ran into a slight problem. I couldn't remember the words. (hint hint Bro Tom, we need to sing it more!) So I did what anyone would do...I googled them. So excited I began singing, however in a low volume so not to set the dog to howlin' and wake the kids. Then it happened, I got to one line and I stopped. Intrigued, I set out searching the meaning of the phrase. I started reading material about the subject and as I sat with my chin hitting the floor, I craved more. As I dug deeper, the more interested I became. Then wouldn't you know it, my son rounded the corner with a "Hi Mom, what's for breakfast?" so I sat my reading aside, hugged and fed my growing young man. Although I had to be taken away from my studying, believe me I will be returning to that subject. I am consumed by it. Once I have a better handle on my topic of study, I'll try to post something.

God has placed me on a new journey learning about Him and His Word, care to join me?

Behold He comes, riding on the clouds!
Shining like the sun! At the trumpet call
Lift your voice! It's the year of Jubilee
and out of Zion's hill salvation comes!

Today, God whetted my appetite for His Word by using a line in a song so what are some ways that God intrigues you to study and search His Word?

Diggin' for more today!

Magnificent Reputations

We all have a reputation whether we want it or not.

According to Webster's Dictionary the word reputation means the overall quality or character as seen or judged by people in general. Reputations are placed upon us by the choices we make or even reflect the paths we've walked down through life. They can be acquired by one act or by a series of actions or attitudes. Many people work hard to obtain a certain reputation while others work just as hard to change the one they have.

The best reputation that we as a Christian woman can obtain is that of "she glorifies God!"
What a wonderful thing to be said about us for that is what we are created for. According to Isaiah 26:8 this should be our heart's desire.

What about you? Is this your heart's desire? To have a reputation of glorifying God?
If you are on the path of gaining this reputation, I want to encourage you to keep up the good work. If you have found that you have somehow gotten on to a detoured path, it is never to late! Seek the Lord and let Him direct you back to the right path.

As said earlier, we all have a reputation. Even God has one. In the 63rd chapter of the Book of Isaiah, we find the Israelites remembering what God had done for them. They remembered how He brought them out of Egypt, across the Red sea, across the desert and into a peaceful valley for rest. I love how the New Living Translation reads at the end of verse 14, "You led your people, LORD, and gained a magnificent reputation."

So here's what I would like to hear from you. How has the LORD led you and gained a magnificent reputation in your life?

Can't wait to hear from you!

Because we sing...

Because we sing...ok it would be better to say "Because we blog".

Why are we starting a blog? That's a great question. This blog is primarily to link the women
of Greenwood's First Baptist church together online. The name of the site is "Desiring the Rain".
No not the physical rain (it would seem we've had a full abundance of that) but rather this was chosen based on Hosea 10:12. The more we seek the LORD, share our lives and encourage each other, the further we will live our part in advancing the Kingdom of our LORD and enjoy the rain of righteousness only He can shower on us.

On this blog you will find devotions, encouragement, upcoming announcements, reflections on events and of course lots of fun. Who knows you might even find a recipe every now and then.

You are invited to join our online community where it is our prayer that we will not only be a blog but an added reason to sing! Even if you are not a member of Greenwood FBC you are welcome to join us on our daily walk with Jesus and each other.

Look forward to meeting you here again soon,

Desiring the Rain
