Stand up, Stand up for Jesus
Ye Soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss
Last night these words kept running through my thoughts.
Taking a stand is... hard.
Taking a stand is...something you really wish others would do.
Taking a stand...can leave you...well standing alone.
I have looked to scriptures to see some verses that call us to stand.
"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one."
Ephesians 6:13-16
"Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong."
1 Corinthians 16:13
As we are called to take stands we have to put these verses into action. It is an action that readies us for that stand. First we are to put on the full armor of God. If you will notice that there is nothing covering the back of the one wearing the armor. God never made us to turn tail and run. Instead He calls us to stand in faith, be brave, strong and hold up the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts. Believe me when you are called to take a stand the fiery darts will fly your way.
I want to encourage you that if you are called to make a stand first make sure it matches up with God's Word, put on the armour of God and make a stand for God.
Recently I have been called to make a stand. I am so thankful for a faithful God that gives me words to encourage me along the way. He brought me to this verse...
"Do not be afraid, Just stand still, and watch the Lord rescue you today.
The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay clam."
Exodus 14:13-14
As I read through these verses I felt God say, "Cynthia can you trust me to fight for you and rescue you? Will you stay calm and stand for Me?"
I don't know what or who your Egyptians are but I want to encourage you not to feel trapped but have an attitude like Moses, to stand still and watch the Lord rescue you.
When God rescues me I will give Him all the glory, will you?
Blessings.
Cynthia
